Oxana Cherkasova, Jekaterinburg
Biography
Oxana Cherkasova was born in Norilsk and studied at the Higher Courses of Scriptwriters and Film Directors in Moscow (workshop Fedor Khitruk, Yuri Norstein) between 1979–1981. From 1981–2002 she worked at the Sverdlovsk Film Studio and the animation studio A-FILM as a director and artist-animator. Since 2002 Cherkasova has been Head of the Department of Graphics and Animation at the Institute of Fine Arts at the Ural State Academy of Architecture and Arts. She has received awards from many international film festivals, was winner of the State Prize of Russia in the field of culture and art, and received the Governor's Award in arts and culture. She is a Member of the Union of Cinematographers, of the Academy Award ‹Nika› and was a member of ASIFA in 2006.
