Stanislav Sokolov, Moscow
Biography
After studies from the VGIK Film School in Moscow with Prof. I. Ivanov-Vano, Stanislav Sokolov worked as an Art Director at the Soyuzmultfilm animation studio. His 1977 director’s debut was Dogada, and he went on to make 10 films in this studio. 1991–2000 he made three films in coproduction with Christmas Films studio (Russia), S4C and BBC (UK) on Shakespeare and the New Testament. 2000–04 he made films on Christian, Muslim and Judaic prayers, and recently completed ‹Hoffmaniada›. Besides filmmaking he teaches art and directing at VGIK, where he created a new Chair of Animation and Computer Graphics and a new Department of Animation and Multimedia.
